How to Be in the Present Moment | Heart Brain Harmony

I know in a time like the one we are in, it is easy for us to become so fearful, anxious, angry and uncertain of what is going on and what is to come. But in doing so, we end up causing so much more pain in ourselves, our bodies and minds because we just end up living in a state of fear. A great way to start releasing those emotions and start feeling better about your situation and yourself, is getting in tune with the present moment. I know most of you have heard of that before to get into the present moment but again, most of us forget, don't realize how important it is to do so or don't fully understand how to become aware of the present moment.


Firstly, it's important to understand that the present moment is ALL you got. I know you might have gone through some tough times that have shaped you as a person and has made you live in a constant state of worry, fear and anxiety. I get it and it sucks that a lot of people have had that happen to them but guess what? You are no longer in that moment, you are no longer in those situations.

You Are Here RIGHT NOW.

And in this moment is where you can start tuning into yourself, your environment and all that you truly have to be grateful and thankful for. In the present moment is where you find happiness, it is not in your past at some event you were in and it's definitely not OUT THERE in the future, somewhere. IT IS HERE NOW.

And what I want to remind you guys is how you can start becoming aware of it and how you can start tuning yourself to all the bliss, happiness and peace in the world that it can offer you right now.


1. Meditate

I know most of you should know this by now or at least have tried it. Meditation is just a great way to settle in the present moment, focus on your breath or the sounds in the room that are around you and to become aware of your body. It's a truly a great tool to stop all worries and focus on what is currently happening.

2. Focus

Focus on your breath, on a candle flicker, on the trees swaying in the distance or even just how on your body feels. I know for some people, it is hard for them to close their eyes and go within because they immediately start to think of all their problems and worries, now of course meditation is a practice within itself, so the more you do it the better you become at it. But if it is a little harder for you, just sit comfortably and focus on your breathing, or a candle flicker where your only job is to observe it, become present with it. In a way you actually become ONE with it and it's a great way to be here, right now.

3. Connect

Connect with nature or the environment around you. Become present and aware of these things that are currently available to you. Notice any sounds it makes, notice its colours, notice anything about the "thing" you are focusing on. It will cause you to stop all thought about what use to be and what may or may not happen in the future. It will bring you here, right now exactly where you should be.


4. Breathe

For all the people who really truly need something very simple, fast and effective, I highly recommend box breathing. There are some great tutorials of how to do box breathing on YouTube and it truly is a great and effective way to stop your anxiety, your worries and doubts. It will subconsciously bring you into the present moment and what truly matters the most. Remember all that we have is here right now and if you are in your home, you are safe, you have food and are surrounded by people that love you. You truly have so much more than you think and becoming aware of the present moment will only make you that much more aware of all the things you have to be grateful and thankful for. The present moment is also the exact place where we start creating our future. So if you continue focusing on everything that is wrong, you will bring more of that into your life but the moment you stop that and are thankful for the little things, you will bring more to be grateful for into your life. Become aware that right here, right now, absolute bliss is available to you, happiness, joy, abundance and love. It is all right here, right now. Tune in folks!
