If your body is crying out for a change, or crying out that it's unhappy, for goodness sake listen to it. Our bodies aren't machines that get by with a grease and oil change every 50,000 kilometres. Stress is part of life but if prolonged stress is in our life, we have to ask ourselves if we are in the right place, right frame of mind, or doing the right job. - Simon McKeon YOUR BODY will start screaming at you if you don't start listening to it! I have mentioned this in an earlier post but what I went through physically because of what I was experiencing emotionally. When SOMETHING is going on in or outside our environment, that we are having a tough time processing or accepting it, it will start to affect us in the inside. For example if you're going through a challenging time like a break up, divorce, death, bullying etc. and you are NOT expressing how it is making you feel THUS storing all these heavy, unprocessed and toxic emotions literally inside of yourself.
When you start storing all the sadness, anger, guilt, shame etc. and you are pretending you are not feeling those feelings and you keep putting on a smile on your face just to show the outside world how strong you are. You are literally kidding yourself, you are lying to yourself and YOUR MIND & YOUR BODY KNOWS THE TRUTH. When you do this for a long period of time, making yourself and your body live in a toxic situation, your body will start breaking down. And how it starts to break down is health wise which could be anything at all. For example:
You don't want to hear what others are saying to you, you can lose your hearing
You feel like you can't have a voice, you can start losing the ability to speak or develop a stutter.
You keep telling yourself you can't stand a certain situation anymore, your body will come up with a way so that you cannot physically stand.
You keep storing heavy emotions, you can constantly end up with stomach issues .
You start hating yourself, you gain weight easily and you can start having bad skin problems.
And the list literally goes on, it can be anything and everything all depending how your body will process all the information and emotions.
As you can see, this is WHY it is VITAL to express your emotions, actually learn to understand why you have them, what they are trying to teach you and then simply let them go. It is absolutely toxic for us to keep on storing these emotions, you're body knows what is going on and eventually the illness/sickness/symptom will start GETTING LOUDER AND LOUDER so that you finally start listening to it. You see, our bodies love us so much and want us to keep going. When it feels like something is off, it will start letting you know slowly and easily but if you keep avoiding the issue, it will start getting louder and louder so that you can pay more attention to it.
Don't be afraid to voice out how you feel and what you are going through just because you may have been shut down in the past. Find a good friend, mentor, life coach or anyone so that you can start processing how you feel, why you feel that way and what you can do. You and your body will feel so much better once you release those stuck emotions. Remember emotions are energy and energy cannot be destroyed, it can only move. So allow your emotions to move through you but not to live in you.
