"The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift." - Albert Einstein
Decisions. Decisions. Decisions.
We all have to make them and in fact we make decisions ALL the time, EVERY SINGLE DAY!!! Just some decisions are way more automatic than the others.
For example, deciding to get up and going to the bathroom, followed by a cup of coffee and then switching the TV on to watch the news, that is action by action chosen by decision. Very small decisions but nonetheless they all were connected by a chain of consciousness in which you choose to act out certain actions and scenarios.
Working with my clients, I do get them to be aware and conscious of these small decisions as it all concludes into the kind of life you live.
These small decisions matter greatly but I am going to focus more on the BIGGER decisions. You know the decisions that make your brain hurt and your heart confused? Yeah, those big decisions that no one likes to make because they are scared of the failure, outcome or missing out if we decide not to pull through.
It's hard and I totally get how it feels when both your mind and heart are in complete conflict and you are left in the middle of it trying to understand which one has the better argument. Nevertheless, it never make any sense what so ever, leaving you even more confused.
"I'm suppose to be a scientific person but I use intuition more than logic in making basic deacons." - Seymour Cray
Often time we finally make a choice because we feel put on the spot knowing we must make a choice. So we make our decision, walk away thinking: "Ok, wonderful. I made a decision and made a RIGHT one! Or so I hope so..."
Having a couple days pass, you come to realize that the decision that you made was absolutely awful. That you should of paid more attention to what your heart was saying, instead of listening to the argument between your heart and mind. I have been in this position quite a few times, always leaving the situation with: "OK ! next time, I am going to listen to what my heart has to say a lot more." But usually, it goes back to me being confused between the heart and mind and choosing the wrong choice again. I know you know what I am talking about here because most of us have experienced this, but you may be thinking: "Ok, well what now? How do I make the RIGHT choice in this scenario ? " Well, it is practicing to silence the mind and heart arguing with each other about which one is right and which one is wrong, and all the possible outcomes. It's just about paying more attention to what your heart has to say. This definitely takes time and practice but the better you get at understanding what your heart is actually saying, the faster you will know which decision to make.
"Use your senses fully and let the alert stillness within you be the perceiver, rather than your mind." - Eckhart Tolle
For some folks who still have a hard time understanding which decision to make and silencing the argument between the heart and mind. I can't stress this enough, WALK AWAY from the situation and DON'T make the decision yet until you have a clear answer on what you should do. Never make a decision on the spot if your mind and heart are not in agreement with one another. This is where the heart and mind coherence comes from. We make the best decisions when both the mind and heart are in agreement with one another - usually this comes from the heart first and then the mind relaxes and says "yes" to the heart. If that isn't what you are feeling, it just means that the decision you ought to make, is just not in the right time. Save yourself the trouble of regretting your choice and go for a walk somewhere, meditate or just go do something else until your heart and mind are both clear.
This is where the best decisions comes from and this is where you will be confident in your decision making especially when it comes to the bigger stuff that can make us all a little anxious. I highly recommend doing a lot of heart and mind coherence meditations to start training both these organs into a direct and powerful communication. There is one by Dr. Joe Dispenza you can check out on his site or do this short one from Brian Scott. Either way, do what pulls you intuitively in the right direction, remember you are making choices and decisions everyday and listening to your heart a bit more, you will learn to make better ones.
